Coldplay songs that altered my brain chemistry
Higher Power:
This was Coldplay’s first song of the night and let me say: what an amazing choice. Everyone had this positive energy and as the crowd stood up to dance he started smiling at us. As he says: we all got a higher power. The power to have a positive mindset, to dance, to smile, to enjoy this life, and most importantly, we got the higher power to make others feel welcomed, secure, and loved. This is a gift that I’ve had for as long as I can remember. That no matter what I’m going through in my personal life, I always make sure that anyone who surrounds me feels grounded, safe and free by my presence. A zero judgment space, no negative looks or trying to proof someone wrong about the most insignificant things. It brings me so much joy to see how my closest friends can feel free to say whatever they want and act however they want. I want others to feel that being next to me can be a safe space to create and to let go.
I dedicate this song to my friends Manuel, Tony, Anina, Faby, Gi, Joshua and Joey because they are my safe space, my higher power.
Adventure of a Lifetime:
“We are legends every day” and indeed we are! Never give up on dreams, no matter how far they seem, how little, or how hard. Our dreams are what keeps us alive and with the purpose to better ourselves. “We only got this life” so let's make our dreams come true.
Paradise:
As a little girl I would have this dream to explore the world, to make a change, and most importantly to have a life worth living. I remember one of my biggest dreams was to live in New York City and here I am, sitting in a Brooklyn coffee shop called Early, my morning stop before taking the G train to work. Nothing is perfect. New York can sometimes feel too much. Like Coldplay said “life goes on, it gets so heavy” but the important part is to close our eyes and think about how much we’ve accomplished, how far we’ve come. After all, the sun always comes out after the storm and creates a paradise.
Hymn for the Weekend:
Being next to my mom during this song really altered my brain chemistry. Watching her sing this song out loud made me cry. This song I dedicate to her. She gives me wings, tries her best to keep me grounded and everything she does for me, she does it with love and with the intention to see me succeed in life.
Everglow:
What a powerful song to listen to. Cherish your loved ones, call them, reach out, ask how their week has been, if they need anything, or just a simple I miss you. Give light to them, even if they don’t ask for it because “life is short, as the falling of snow.”
My Universe:
All I could think about during this song was Joey. He really is my universe. Someone I cherish and love with all my heart. Anyone that knows us can say that our relationship is very rare to find. We complement each other in so many ways. Like the sun and the moon. Not only he lets me fly, he’s the one that tosses me into the air.
